How to make Solar Array System

Description

Solar Array System is a photovoltaic array composed of multiple solar panels,to achieve a certain voltage or current, the following are some common steps we follow during installation.

1.Preparations before installation

1.1 Site assessment

Choose a location with abundant sunlight and no obstructions before make the solar array, such as a south-facing roof or an open ground area,at the same time, consider the load-bearing capacity of the site and the surrounding environment to ensure a safe installation process and ease of maintenance.

1.2 Preparation of materials and tools

Prepare materials and tools such as solar panels, brackets, inverters, charging controllers (if it is an off-grid system), batteries (if it is an off-grid system), connecting cables, junction boxes, screws, nuts, wrenches, screwdrivers, and electric drills.

1.3 Safety protection

Prepare safety belts, safety helmets and other safety protection equipment to ensure the safety of the installers.

2.Bracket installation

2.1 Roof installation

If it is installed on the roof, first select the appropriate fixation method based on the roof structure,for concrete roofs, expansion bolts can be used to fix the brackets. For color steel tile roofs, special fixtures can be used for fixation,according to the design plan, assemble and fix each component of the bracket on the roof, ensuring the levelness and verticality of the bracket, and install it firmly to be able to withstand the weight and pressure of the solar panels and bad weather.

2.2 Ground installation

When installing on the ground, a concrete foundation needs to be poured first,according to the size and layout of the support, the bolt holes should be reserved. After the concrete foundation has solidified, install the support on the foundation, fix it with bolts, and adjust the Angle and levelness of the support.

3.Installation of solar panels

3.1 Solar panel transportation

Carefully move the solar panels to the installation position to avoid collision and damage to the panels.

3.2 Solar array fixation

Use screws or clips to fix the solar panels on the bracket, ensuring a tight connection between the panels and the bracket to prevent them from shaking due to wind or other reasons. During the fixation process, be careful to avoid scratches or other damages to the surface of the solar panels.

4.Electrical connection

4.1 Solar Array Series and parallel

According to the Solar Array  system design requirements, connect the solar panels in series or parallel,series connection involves linking the positive terminal of one solar panel to the negative terminal of another to increase the voltage,parallel connection involves connecting the positive terminals and negative terminals of all the solar panels together to increase the current. When connecting, use dedicated connection cables and junction boxes to ensure a firm connection and prevent poor contact or short circuits.

4.2 Connect to the controller or inverter

Connect the output cable of the solar panel group to the input terminal of the solar charging controller (off-grid system) or inverter (grid-connected or off-grid system),before connection, carefully confirm the positive and negative poles of the cable and connect it correctly in accordance with the requirements of the equipment manual.

4.3 Grounding treatment

To ensure the safe operation of the system, grounding treatment is required. Connect the solar panel brackets, inverters and other equipment to the grounding electrode through grounding cables,the grounding resistance must comply with the relevant standard requirements.

5. Solar Array System debugging and testing

5.1 Visual inspection

Before powering on, recheck all components of the system, including the solar panels, brackets, connecting cables, inverters, etc., to ensure they are firmly installed, correctly connected, and free from looseness, damage or short circuits.

5.2 Electrical test

Use professional electrical testing tools, such as multimeters, to measure parameters like open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current of the solar panels and check if they meet the specification requirements of the solar panels,at the same time, check whether the input voltage, current and other parameters of the inverter are normal.

5.3 Solar Array System operation test

After confirming that the electrical connection is correct, connect the system to the power grid (grid-connected system) or start the battery (off-grid system) to make the system start to operate,observe the operating status of devices such as inverters and charging controllers, and check whether the parameters on the display screen are normal, such as output voltage, current, and power. Meanwhile, check whether the system can supply power to the load or charge the battery normally.
