How Recognize A Grade Battery Cell
More and more supplier uses the B grade battery cell as the A grade battery cell for more profit or price advantage, now we are going to make a brief introduction about this two grades, then we can distinguish it.
1.Visual inspection
A Grade: The surface is usually smooth and tidy, without defects such as scratches, stains, deformations, dents, cracks, bulges, etc, the color is uniform, the labels are clear and complete, the adhesion is firm, the positive and negative metal plates are bright, and there is no oxidation or corrosion phenomenon.
B Grade: There may be minor scratches, stains,or irregular labeling issues, the appearance may have slight deformations, and there may be slight deviations in size from the standard, the electrode may have slight signs of oxidation.
2.Performance testing
A Grade: The actual capacity is very close to the nominal capacity, with minimal deviation,a nominal 100Ah A-grade battery cell typically has an actual capacity of 95Ah or more.
B Grade: The capacity is relatively low, with a certain deviation from the nominal capacity, for example,a B-grade battery cell with the same nominal capacity of 100Ah may have an actual capacity between 90Ah and 95Ah.
3.Internal resistance measurement
A Grade:have lower internal resistance, generally speaking, under the same conditions, the internal resistance of A-grade battery cells is significantly lower than that of B-grade battery cells, which can output current more efficiently with less energy loss.
B Grade:The internal resistance is slightly higher than that of A-grade battery cell,in situations such as high current discharge, there may be more obvious phenomena such as heating.
4.Safety testing
A Grade:High safety, after strict safety testing, including overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit, high temperature, compression and other tests, there will be no safety issues such as fire or explosion.
B Grade:The security is relatively good, but there may be certain security risks in some extreme situations.
5.Consistency checking
The same batch of A-grade battery cells have a high degree of consistency in parameters such as capacity, voltage, and internal resistance, with very little dispersion.
The consistency of battery cell parameters for product B in the same batch is not as good as that of grade, when forming a battery pack, there may be individual cells that are fully charged or fully discharged first.
6.View production records and reports
A grade battery cells generally have complete and standardized production records and testing reports, with detailed records and strong traceability,B grade battery cells may have incomplete records or some parameters that do not meet the standards.
7.Conclusion
Generally speaking,A-grade battery cells have higher prices and are usually supplied through legitimate channels to manufacturers with high requirements for battery performance,B-grade battery cells have relatively low prices and may appear in some cost sensitive products that do not require extremely high battery performance,if the price of the battery is significantly lower than the market price, then it is highly likely that the battery is not A-grade.
