
Common problems in home ess
The following common problems may be encountered during the use of the home ESS.
1.Battery Problem
Capacity Reduction:With the increas of using,times of charging and discharging,the battery capacity will decrease step by step,cause the home ess can store less energy,affect the system using time and efficiency,for example, lead-acid battery may have a significantly reduced capacity after hundreds of cycles, while lithium battery may also have a significant capacity decay after a few years of use.
Over charge&discharge:Battery will be over charge&discharge if bms is bad or in wrong setting,over charge will cause battery heating,swelling,safety problem,over discharge will reduce battery cycle life,even destroy the battery.
Consistency issues:For a battery pack composed of multiple battery cells connected in series or parallel, due to the differences in capacity, internal resistance, voltage, etc., there may be inconsistencies in the charging and discharging process, which will affect the performance and life of the entire battery pack.
2.Inverter Problem
Low conversion efficiency:When the inverter converts the direct current stored in the battery into the alternating current required for household electricity, the conversion efficiency may be low, resulting in the loss of part of the electric energy in the conversion process and reducing the energy utilization efficiency of the entire home ess.
Fault alarm:The inverter may have a fault alarm and stop working due to overload, overheating, short circuit, etc.,for example, during the peak period of electricity consumption in summer, there are many electrical appliances used in the household, and the inverter may be alarmed due to overload.
Harmonic interference:Some inverters with poor quality may produce harmonics, interfere with other electrical equipment in the home, affect their normal operation,may even damage some equipment with high requirements for power quality, such as computers, precision instruments, etc.
3.System integration and compatibility Problem
Solar Panel mismatch:If the battery, inverter, controller and other components in the home ess do not match the specifications, parameters, etc., it may cause the system to fail to operate normally or the performance to deteriorate,for example, the input voltage range of the inverter does not match the output voltage of the battery, which can prevent the inverter from working properly.
Communication Faulty:If there is a problem with the communication between the home ess and the home grid, smart meter, or other smart devices, it can affect the monitoring, control, and dispatch functions of the system,for example, it is impossible to view the operating status of the energy storage system in real time, or it is not possible to automatically adjust the charging and discharging strategy according to the grid price signal
4.Installation and Environment Problem
The installation is not standardized:The installation of energy storage systems needs to follow certain norms and standards, and if it is not installed properly, there may be safety hazards,for example, if the battery is installed in a poorly ventilated place, it may cause heat dissipation problems, affecting battery life and safety; If the electrical connection is not strong, electric sparks may be generated, causing accidents such as fires.
Ambient temperature influences:Temperature has a great impact on the performance and life of the battery. In a high-temperature environment, the self-discharge rate of the battery will increase, accelerating the aging of the battery; In a low-temperature environment, the charging and discharging efficiency of the battery will be reduced, and the usable capacity will also be reduced.
